“Tackle Erosion in 2012/2013 Budget” Smith urges Colleagues
A Passionate appeal has been made to members of the 53nd Legislature to save Liberia’s second commercial city for sea erosion.
A communication from Representative Gabriel B. Smith to the House Plenary is requesting the allocation of USD Two Million dollars to curtail the rapid encroachment of the City of Buchanan by the Atlantic Ocean.
The District 3 Representative said his people are living in perpetual as a result of the erosion and was making the appeal to his colleague to intervene and lives and properties.
The Representative who won the 2011 elections as an Independent Candidate said the amount will be placed under the Ministry of Lands, Mines and Energy 2012/2013 Budget.
He said 2008, nothing concrete has been done to by the Government to stop the sea erosion and
encoarchment of the city.
The Plenary sent Hon. Smith communication to the ways, Means and Finance for advisement.
