Clara Town gets Magisterial Status

The House of Representatives in its 51st sitting on Thursday, July 19, 2012, passed into law a Bill to establish a Magisterial Court in Clara Town, Montserrado County.
The Bill was sponsored by the Represensentative A. Varmuyan Corneh of district 14, Montserado County.
Following the passage , based on a recommendation from the Committees on Judiciary and Internal Affairs, Hon. Corneh told the Press Pool that presence of a Court will help in the speedy prosecution of criminals who had infested the Clara Town and surrounding areas in his District.
He said his next target is to prevail of the Justice Ministry authorities to increase the number of Police officers assigned in the community so as to arrest and send criminals to court.
The Monsterrado Lawmaker maintained that citizens and residents of the area were living in perpetual fear due to the high level of insecurity posed by the criminals.
The House decision is informed also by the huge population and the distances residents have to cover to seek Justice in the magisterial courts in West Point and New Kru Town respectively.
