HOUSE RETREATS TO GBARNGA TO DEVELOP A LEGISLATIVE AGENDA

A two day orientation for Members of the Honorable House of Representatives has begun in Gbarnga City, Bong County.
In his opening remarks, House Speaker Tyler admonish his colleagues to use their stay in central to further build their acquaintance, exchange ideas and strengthen capacity that will broaden their scopes in the Legislative process.
Earlier, Bong county Superintendent Lucia Herbert and Chairman of the Bong County Legislative Caucus welcomed members of the House to the County.
The retreat to Gbarnga City is the first for the members of the House since their assumption of office January 9, 2012. In 2006, it can be recalled that Members of the 52nd Legislature were flown to Accra, Ghana for orientation.
The workshop is funded by the National Democratic institute and the Government of Liberia.
Facilitators are expected to deliver conservations on the roles of committees in the Legislative process, role of the legislature in a governing process of checks and balances among others.
