Proposed Law to Amend Public Corporations in Liberia

Date:
03/01/2012

A Bill to amend all laws creating Public Corporations has been introduced in the House of Representatives.

The proposed law entitled “An Act amending all laws creating Public Corporations in the Republic of Liberia” seeks to ensure that all Directors and Deputy Directors of public corporations go through confirmation hearing by the Liberian Senate.

Currently, directors and their deputies are recommended by members of the Board for appointment by President.

Hon. Johnson T. Chea of District 1, River Gee County is the sponsor of the proposed law.

The crafter of the Act believes that the recommendations and appointments of these public corporations managing Directors make them to develop a notion that they are only accountable to the Board of Directors instead of the Liberian people.
